I spotted a tuning box on an A4 Tdi in the scrapyard couple of weeks ago. Got it today for 30 yoyos. I'll put in in this evening and see if it does anything. I'll update this a couple of times over the next few days .

Ok I scanned the car with Vag405 no faults. It's a 1997 A4, AHU engine no EGR. I installed the box and secured it with cable ties. The car started immediately I drove it for 20 miles it seems slightly more lively. I re-scanned and its showing 17970 quantity adjuster upper limit reached. I assume it's over fueling? Engine temperature is still going up tp 90 degrees in 3-4 miles. It's very smoky when I clog it. I put €30 diesel in I got 19.2 liters so just over 4 gallons. I usually get 200 miles to €30.00 with diesel @ €156.9. Forgot the photo I'll do it tomorrow

17970 fault kept returning until I removed the box. I don't know what damage it could do, but its smoky and obviously not running as it was intended. Chip or remap is the answer if you want more mpg or power. I already knew that...

I wanted to try it, I know remap is the way to go or a new chip if you're poor like me. The box had an on/off switch and a screw to adjust power. I have been curious for a while and this one was cheap (very cheap I'm getting a refund monday) It worked in that there seemed to be a little more pep I didn't like the fault code or the Massey Ferguson trail of black smoke
