Hi, i've recently bought a 2001 Audi A3 1.8t quattro with 60k on the clock from a local garage near Macclesfield, within a day the engine management light came on. I took it back to the garage and they agreed to take it to a garage with a diagnostic machine. A day later i got the car back and they told me that when they plugged it into the machine it came up with an engine fault code saying that the engine has been exessivly reved.
Even though i havnt raced the engine from cold and even when it is warm i have changed up before 5k, i gave the garage the benefit of the doubt. Just to ensure that the light didnt come on again i have been driving the car extra gently not exceeding 3000 revs! But much to my dismay one day on, the light has appeared on my dash again!

Is the garage just trying to fob me off or is this a common fault with this engine!

Any Info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Chris
