I hope you knowledgable people can help me.
This relates to my 2007 A6 3.0 TDi Sline Avant Quattro - 'high' MMI.
My sat-nav has stopped working as the boot mounted navigation rom will not read the original disc - it worked fine for years but I think some damp has got in whilst on a very wet holiday this summer!
I want to take the unit out and allow it dry out fully (if that's the problem) but I cannot get it out nor fully release the cradle/rack holding it.
I have removed 3 nuts - 1 bottom front + 2 high on the rack - it will wiggle around a bit but will not come out.
I can get the DVD ROM unit out half-way but the cables are tight - maybe I can add more pressure but I do not want to damage anything.
Any help in would be appreciated. I have spent 10+ hours trawling the web and cannot find this info.
    many thanks in anticipation.

The unit is at the bottom and 1/3 removed. i can just about get my hand behind the LHS but cannot access the RHS at all.

Wiggle it out half way then reach round and unclip the cables - when I was installing DAB thats what I done.

    Chris,
thanks but even with my medium sized hands I can't get them 'in' - I'll give it another go.
Are there any special tabs etc on th eleads or do they just pop out.
Is there 1 or 2 leads?

    I tried to upload a picture but couldn't - I'll try again.
    thanks.

The DVD unit can be removed without removing the whole MMI rack...

Insert removal tool like this in the two solts on lower edge of DVD rom drive...

Ease forward... cables from left to right when view from front on back... 1 connection of fibre optical cable with one locking catch... 1 power cable locking latch either side... 1 connection to aerial for signal, pops off no locking...

I've managed to once or twice remove all cables without easing forward first but real PITA... even with DAB module there...

Looking at your pic, maybe removing the DAB unit (I think thats what it is) that is screwed on the side of the rack would give you better room too remove the wires.

I assume you have seen the problems caused by a burst rear washer pipe, the washer fluid runs down on to these units. Have a search if you are not aware of this.

Have you been able to eject the DVD? The eject button is some times factory locked.

    Hope drying it works.
