Hi guys looking for some advice please.

I have an Audi 2.0ltdi sport, it started going into limp mode about four months ago.

I went through different forums looking for help, it started off throwing up glow plug faults and injector faults on a vag hand held. I replaced the glow plugs and the harness under the rocker cover, went ok again for a couple of weeks.

I then got the injectors put away to be tested,it came back as two being faulty which were then replaced and the same again went ok for a week or two and started again.

Next to try was the main harness which was on back order everywhere, the main harness has now just been replaced running better but still throwing up the same faults.

The ecu has signs of water ie the connections were corroded where the harness joined it, so now i am looking at getting a replacement ecu.

Can anybody advise me the best way to go about this, I tried one place today for a reconditioned one £456. I then found one from a scappy at £128 which i knew like that would not just plug and play, he told me he could give me everything to get it to work with my car clocks, body control module, key and transponder and it would take around two hours to change it all.

Is there any other ways around this or what do you think my best option is?

Thank you in advance i hope i have done this correctly, sorry about the grammer not one of my strong points.

    What's the engine code?

    What are/were the fault codes?

What handheld scanner are you using?

Who offered to recondition the current ECU and why does it need reconditioning?

Can the ECU from the scrappy be coded and all ancillaries changed for less than the cost of getting the current one reconditioned?

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

I was getting the codes 17677 pump jet valve cylinder 4 (n243) implausible signal p1269, 17674 pump jet valve cylinder 3 implausible signal p1266 to start with. I changed the first harness under the rocker cover went fine for a few weeks then the same codes again. I then got the injectors tested two came back as faulty, they were changed same again ok for a few weeks then it start throwing up three injector faults 1,2 and four. Three and four were the ones replaced, they put 1,2 and 4 away to get tested again and they were all fine. The main harness was replaced this week, i am unsure of the codes now but although it is running a bit better it is still the same.
The hand held scanner was a friends i can only remember it was VAG something it is in my car thirty five miles away, the garage use a snap on one and it threw up the same codes as the hand held one.
The reconditioned ECU was a place the garage told me to try, the one from the scrappy was a place i found online. Can i buy the one from the scrappy and get somebody to copy the map of mine and put it on the new one?
I dont think the garage were keen on me getting the one from the scrappy.
I am not to clued up but i hope this helps.
    Thank you.
    Shaun

Ok, if ecu has corroded contacts then chances are the pcb will also have some damage, needs removing & checking visually on the board, but replacement ecu needs immo coding, shouldnt need keys etc if the ecu is given the vin no. whilst coding, which I strongly suggest at a dealer tbh.

What do you mean copy the map, remap, stock map etc?

Hi thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I found a company online who will test my ecu and repair it if they can, if not they will get me another pcb and replace my one.
As i said i am not to clued up, i took it the map is what is on my ecu it has never had anything done so it will be original.
    Thank you

If the ecu is the same then the engine map will be the same, you hope, but to be sure when dealer codes ecu in, ask them to load the stock firmware/files from vag to be sure, that way guaranteed to be clean.

Hi again, i am still having the same problem. Since this started i have now had four injectors replaced, the main harness, the injector harness twice and the ecu repaired that was meant to be faulty. The garage i had it in have now given up and suggested putting it to audi,i just dont think i can afford to put it to them. Can anybody else think off anything that could be causing me this problem?
    Thank you.
