audi 19" rims in snow

my question is simple, i have 19" wheels on, 255 x 35 x 19 michelin sport tyres, will i struggle in a few inches of snow with these wheels/ tyres ?

I haven't for the past 3.5 years on the same setup.

Yeah, the fwd A6's aren't the best in snow - worse still for having 19's by all accounts. Get some winter tyres on would be my advice & you should be far more sure footed.

I wouldn't even suggest 19's on a fwd in the snow.

Best gonig right down to 17's and sticking winters on like you have Paul. It will be interesting to see how my A3 performs with 17's.

Yep, that's the best advice, 17" steel wheels or alloys with winter tyres as Chris says. You shouldn't have any problems then.

I have winter 17s for my tdie.....it's like having 4 wheel drive in the snow.....don't need Quattro if you have winters!

Fitted part worn Dunlop winters on my Passat for the first time yesterday and I've been amazed at how much more sure footed it feels. Everyone always comments on how good they feel but it's true, they really do - pulling off from traffic lights (earlier today, about 5 degrees I think) on a greasy wet road where I know my Goodyears with decent tread would have spun up, there was not a hint of wheel spin, and braking felt much more sure footed too. And I've been really impressed with those Goodyears over the summer too.

I am a complete convert and cannot recommend winter tyres on a 2 wheel drive highly enough.

Same here Oddballboy, part worn Dunlop Wintersports on my front wheel drive & they've been spot on. Not bad for £30 a tyre, fitted. I can't afford any spare alloys or steel wheels yet, or I'd get a set for summer & a set for winter, but with decent part worn Dunlops at £120 for four (and they're lasting 20,000 miles, it's a relatively inexpensive way of winterproofing your car.
