Hi all. Was wondering if anyone can offer some advice as to what to check next.
I have a drain of 1amp when everything is off and car locked. The only way to remove the drain is to remove fuse 14 which is for the interior lighting and central locking.
I've removed all lamps, including boot light. I have read all the issues about door locks going haywire and alarm not operating correctly due to bad solder connections in the door locks, so I had the passenger side all apart and all perfect.
Should I check the other three?? seeing as I have no symtoms of these playing up or can someone point me in another direction.

    Thanks

With the door lamps, front interior light, rear reading lights, rear door lights (if fitted) boot light and vanity mirror lights definitely off, you need to disconnect plug T23 on the convenience system unit above the steering column to see if the drain goes.

Thanks Crasher. Thought I was going to get to have a look today, but just didnt happen. Hopefully get the chance before the end of week. One thing though; you say module is above steering column. I've read elseware that it is under dash beside footwell. My Golf is a '99 Tdi. If the drain goes by pulling plug T23 what does this tell me? Does it mean it's the module itself or something else.

    Cheers

It is under the dash on the drivers side up above the relay plate sort of level with the steering column. If the drain goes when the unit is unplugged it may be the unit that is at fault or a device it is powering but you say you have disconnected everything. You would have to plug a new one in to find out. It is not something I have had though so I am suspicious of the conv unit being the fault, you never know though, there is a first time for everything.

Hi. Now had a chance to look at the convenience module. Did not know which plug was 23, but if I disconnect the blue plug the drain disappears; if I disconnect the biege plug the drain reduces by half to about 0.5A.
Do not know if you can shed any light on this, but in the meantime I've just bought a replacement module from Ebay. Not convinced it will sort problem as central locking, windows etc are all working ok, but I guess I need to eliminate it.
Will report back once I've tried module.

T23 is the one with 23 socket positions.

Now had a chance to try a replacement convenience module and with no surprise drain current exactly the same.
Do not really know where to go from here.
    Any thoughts appreciated
