Have a small issue with my glow plug light flashing prior to starting, after removing key a couple of times
its ok and starts, could this be needing glow plugs? have had new injectors and turbo fitted within the last year
    any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Scan for faults.
    If you don't have VCDS
Look in the vagcom section for a member in your area.

If the glow plug light flashes at start up I would also expect a message e.g. "Engine Fault" on the Multifunctional Display? As Kite states the best way is for a VCDS (VAG COM) fault code scan which will narrow down where the fault lies. Note: 170 HP Tdi cars sometimes need the 7v glow plugs not the 4.4v versions. Make sure this is checked out before replacement.

Hi did you find out what the problem was? iv just got my first vw passat and have the same problem. If i leave the car for any time at all the glow light flashes before i start and i have to take the key out 2 or more times then it will start. if i try to start it before it will start then die then just crank over.
