They could be unrelated or intermittent...

Scans are good as starting point... but you can draw wrong conclusions as well if not read correctly...

So usually how I use my scans is i) scan car ii) clear faults iii) scan car see what comeback again

Besides battery going flat and car not starting you've had no other issues?

My only other issue has been the AC blowing out hot air when on cold and ive read about a sensor that could be causing this issue.

Totally agree with scans being the starting point and missed the date stamps. I am thinking it will be work ppurchasing a cable and keeping a regular check on the car.

How would I check if the MMI and ECU firmwares need updating?

All of the battery regulator error codes are from 2011, could I have another issue?

    Deactivation stages

The individual deactivation stages are initiated by the energy management control unit in line with the charge of the vehicle battery.

The deactivation stages result in the following:

    – Deactivation stage 1
    Convenience CAN loads are deactivated.

    – Deactivation stage 2
Initiation of this stage results in
    deactivation of additional convenience
    CAN loads. Certain infotainment system
    restrictions are implemented.

    – Deactivation stage 3
Reduction of the closed-circuit current is
    initiated.

    – Deactivation stage 4 – Transportation
    mode
This deactivation stage is activated by way
of the diagnosis unit and cannot be
    initiated independently by the energy
    management control unit.

    – Deactivation stage 5
    The auxiliary heater is deactivated

    – Deactivation stage 6
Bus system wake-up action is reduced.
I can get faults like that whilst cleaning car... and letting things run...

So does the flat battery/not starting happen regular?

I could not make sense of the version from VCDS log for your MMI version... press "Car"... then "Setup"... then select "Settings"... then "xxx Version"

Anything in the Gateway Installation List, the text starting below the VIN number, is VCDS checking what modules are installed and what their status is, OK=OK, Malfunction=Malfunction.

The thing that I am a little confused about is the 009 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent for the indicator

    i) a bulb out..

    ii) loose connection...

If bulb out... once replaced fault goes from DIS... but kept in module memory... [Address 46: Central Conv.]

It has only happened the once and I then put in a help request for VCDS.

Car cleaning could be the culprit because I am always cleaning her.

I am going to get the battery tested and see what the result is, there is no issue with removing the battery to take it to a garage for testing is there?

There is also no warning of a flat battery on the MMI or DIS and never has been.

I will post up the MMI version soon, how would I get the ECU version?

    Cheers

Funnily enough I asked if it is normal for the blown bulb to stay in the module memory because the garage that changed it said they had an issue when changing the bulb because the new one didnt work. They changed it for another new bulb which didnt work then the third one did.

At the time I though it was just bad luck to get 2 new broken bulbs but now im not so sure.

Just a 10mm spanner is needed - under the floor in the boot.

Remember to undo the negative first and when reconnecting turn your sidelights on before reconnecting as if there is a power surge they will blow first and not something important.

On my Avant if you remove battery, boot is does not open from outside as the mechanism is electronic ( I do not have electric tailgate)

    So wedge boot open...

If you do not have fold down rear seats and this is the same on saloon you will be stuck....
