    hi
got a bora with an overcooling problem.
when im driving it, it will bearly move off the cold position, but if i let it idle, with 2 mins it will go to normal position, but as soon as you get going again it will fall back down with in 1 min.
so im guessing the air flow throu the rad is overcooling.
could it be the thermostat knackered or something else? sensor.
getting very little heat from the blower.
    any ideas?

Sounds like a thermostat mate, you should give it a scan with VCDS first of all

I also have a Bora(ing) with almost the same problem. Not much heat from the heater and takes 10+ miles to get to temp. If I stop in traffic it gets up to temperature set off and it drops again. I did check the termostat (it was OK), then replaced it as it was only cheap. Still the same.
I then bought VCDS tool and lo and behold the G2 engine management sensor is FUBAR (£22 Eurocarparts), googled and it appears a common fault. Also fan switch faulty also (£22 Eurocarparts). I am due to pick them up and replace in the next few days.

Had the same sort of problem with mine, it was the temp. sensor that was dodgy and also caused poor running. Swapped it twice, never pays to get a cheapo. GSF had one identical to original and was about £15.00.
Don't believe the gauge, its the temp. sensor telling tales.
