    Hi Guys,

My wife's Polo BM2 is getting close to 4 years old, but it has only done 19500 miles,
any advice on the policy of changing the cambelt, should it be changed at 4 years as VW advise?
The sevice book says every 100,000 mile for 3 cylinder Tdi with DPF.
The car very rarely goes out of town, just the eternal triangle of shops, her mothers and home....I know all about the DPF as once a month I give it a blast down the A19, with no problems.

Vw advise different intervals for different countries as well as different brands even though the same engine is used. I personally think the 4 year rule is to make money for vw but that is my opinion.
From experience timing belts can go the interval distance however they should be checked from a certain time frame.

Here in Oz the cambelt interval is for hot climate so it is recommended book distance or 7 years whichever comes 1st - inspection of belt from 60000km or 40000miles for those that clock up the distance before time interval.

At the end of the day it is up to you so do what you feel is best.
