    Hi

As i understand it, the 225 quattro is not permanent all wheel drive. But is 95% front wheel drive with increased drive to the rear wheels only when the front wheels slip.

If correct , then is it best to use winter tyres for winter ?

Currently i have 18 inch rims. If i get winter tyres , what size rims are best to use ? Thanks.

It's always best to use winter tyres in the winter.....regardless of 4 wheel-drive or not. They make a HUGE difference to braking, grip and cornering....the three most important factors in winter driving. Recommended to be used when the temperature is below about 7C. I have a set for my A6.
Smaller and narrower is better....my summer tyres are 18 and winters are 17.
Loads of threads on here if you search.....

Have a look on eBay....best place to find alloys for winter tyres....get genuine Audi ....then you know they'll fit!
Mine are 225 50 17 tyres on 112x5 pcd alloys. Offset I think is 43....but may well be slightly different offset for tt.....I'm sure someone will be able to tell you shortly. Alternatively type in Audi tt alloys in eBay....

It might be possible.....do you have a sticker somewhere on the car that gives the tyre pressures? Should have all the acceptable wheel sizes on too.....I know the A6 Avant will take a 16 so tt may well too....
