2002 A6 1.9tdi - don't know the engine code but I think it's AWX, the sticker in the boot is missing.

It's been hard starting recently so I have been taking a look at the glow plugs. It seems they aren't getting any power. I've found the relay I think, next to the ECU top right of engine bay in a box. I've put a meter on it and when I turn the ignition on the red/ yellow wire that goes to 87a goes live but nothing at the plugs.

Any ideas? Is there a post relay fuse?

Also found a "tuning" box on the car. Took it apart and it's a 150omh resistor in a box, what's that all about?

Ebay "tuning box" serial connected to the MAF, fools the ECU to believe more air is beeing drawn in than it actually is.
Most expensive resistor you can possibly buy

OK I've been digging around a bit more.

I think I didn't make a proper connection when I was measuring voltage at the glow plugs. I unplugged the coolant sensor so the glow plugs stayed on for as long as possible. I removed a plug and made an earth straight to the battery with a cable and with ignition on the plug glowed red after a few seconds.

    So what's next
