    Hi All,
My car is a 2005/55 A6 (c6) 2.4 V6 petrol Multitronic (engine code BDW I think). Has this engine got Cam Belts or are they Chain. The reason for asking is that she’s now reached 80,000 mile and I was wondering what she needs. I suspect she might have a toothed timing belt and cam chain at the rear of each head like my old AML engine. Anybody in the know as to what’s required and to a ball park figure for this job ?

Knowing my luck it will turn out to be expensive....................

    Hi,

Looks like it's chain driven so no cambelt to change in that case.

Not sure what else you need over the usual oil and filters, maybe gearbox oil, brake fluid, spark plugs.

What has been done to date in the history?

Thank you for the quick reply.

She's got a full Audi service history, last service 4,000 miles ago. Only she needs to go in for Multitronic gearbox oil change and I was going to ask about the belt/chains but didn't want to look silly. That's why I'm asking has the BDW engine got any belts that need changing at 80,000 as the owners manual is not clear what she's got for this engine.

Out of interest have you had any issues with your older Multi box?

    Hi bennettp23,
This is my second A6 with multitronic box, (touching Wood) I've never had a problem with either of them. First A6 (c5) did 170,000 mile with me (and still going strong as i've seen the new owner by chance).
I've always had the box oil changed at 40,000 ish miles by Audi as per owners maual. I like the box as it's the smoothest auto's i've ever driven or owned. Mine you I hardly ever use the manual option or S mode as I find the V6 has enough punch and torque for everyday driving. Mined you I do have fun sometime with this one as it's got flappy paddles.
