Hi I have the following symptoms - they are all pretty mild to be honest just rather annoying.

When it's warm, the engine doesn't purr like it does when cold. It's a little rough sounding but only mildly. When cold there is 1 continuous noise of the engine but when warm there's a noise that just doesn't seem quite right.

When cold the engine starts first turn of the key within a second. When starting the engine when it is already warmed up the cranking takes ages and eventually I just give it some gas and it starts but it's not a clean and crisp process it sort of stumbles into the revs.

One last thing I have noticed is that when stopping the car and I dip the clutch sometimes the revs drop a bit too much but then recover and overcompensate and it takes the needle a second or two to straighten out. This doesn't happen all the time.

As I said these are all pretty mild symptoms and don't cause me any problems they just annoy me but i'd like to get it fixed.

I recently replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor and this fixed the problem I was having with the temperature gauge - now it shows the correct temp when the engine warms up instead of showing a cold engine even when the engine was hot.

You could try cleaning the throtle body.if you take the air inlet hose off an see if its oily an black, clean the butterfly as much as you can carefully. If you notice any improvement then it will require a proper clean whilst off the engine. Not sore if you will need Vagcom to reset it after.Better check first.
