    Labour £270

There are also a few bolts that have to be replaced so allow about £15 for those and £12 for coolant.
    So if you use genuine it should cost £129.72 + £45.91 + £270 + £15 + £12 = £472.63, or aftermarket ~£45 less?

And 2 year warranty if you use genuine?
Nothing to see here, move along..

That's quite allot for labor, Ive checked out VW/Audi specialists and they quoted me for 3-5 hours work at about £120. £270 seems like a huge difference compared to other specialists. Also is that genuine kit at cost price? Pretty sure cost price which garages can get that at is about £90-105?

    Thanks for the quote anyway.

garages always put a mark up on parts, thats the nature of the business.

Yea i understand that theres a markup on parts, But the garage ive found is being level headed about things. Which is a plus. But none the less £270 is allot for labor considering its 3-5 hours and a specialist garage charges much less. But each to there own i suppose.

The time we base it on is 4.5 hours at £60 an hour so £270. Yes the price of the genuine parts is the VW retail i.e. what you would pay if you went into a VW dealer and bought the parts, next time you go into a pub ask them to give you a pint at the price they pay for it and see their reaction.

Never said i had a problem with the price you pay, Purely stating what another Specialist does and second i was more so focused on the labor than the parts.

What one garage does doesnt apply to all garages and alot of people rate the good garage scheme very highly

the good garage scheme is another con by someone to extract money and sell forte products. i was in it for a year and told them exactly what i thought when the rep was here pressure selling their stuff. its not hard to join, you just pay and if a customer leaves negative feedback, they look into it and will only publish bad feedback if the garage refuses to co operate.

Have you considered doing it yourself? You can use "genuine" parts and save a fortune on labour, its not overly difficult

None the less 91 feedback is quite a good step compared to other garages. It clearly shows they have happy customers and there prices must be somewhat decent. After all people don't lockup something and write a review out for no apparent reason.

I think my quote of about £310 was decent and i will go for VW parts which will be about £330-340.
