you need to know exactly what is being replaced . if you ask for a belt and pump then you may just get that and no tensioner or pulleys. you may even get your old coolant put back in.
all the more reason to have a chat with crasher.

I've found a VW/Audi Specialist which will do the work for about £310.

He was very informative with what he was talking about. Cambelt, Tensioners (Even though this is in the kit), Alternator, Water Pump and Mounts (Bolts) all for about £310. Work would be about £250 give or take and then you need to add on vat so about £300-310. He also mentioned things about putting in new fluid for pump, but this goes over my head. Wooosh!

One of the things he told me which i liked, he spoke about prices etc and cost he gets them at. £120 for labor, Something about Continental belts. VW branded belts are just a VW on the box with some other name on belt like technik something, Continental. Spoke about 3 major brands which VW uses. Mounting bolts 70p!!!!!! He told me and would put them on at!!!! Think ive found my new main garage
But the guy said for my peace of mind, the price difference is about £15 if i wanted to buy a box with a VW logo on it.

He's also part of the Good Garage Scheme with a 98% satisfaction with about 100 reviews and located in Heanor.

Ive rang Crashers place, they quoted me 350-420, That doesn't help me. Every other garaged can qoute me but them, they are more difficult to get an exact sum.
But a VW/Audi specialist which i spoke about above is just as good or better

As long as you get the full year's warranty & the fact that they're non oem parts won't affect that. I'm surprised a VAG Specialist would promote non VAG oem products, even my one man band indy insists on oem parts (for warranty as much as anything else).

I forgot, I have a bad memory. He did mention OEM i thought Continental parts are OEM. But the garage will give me a year warranty.

Heres the Good Scheme Site which i found him on. http://www.goodgaragescheme.co.uk/ga...tails/MjIzNA==

I'm only a non-techy person, but as long as they're the correct parts, I don't suppose it matters where you source them

    Belt kit

    Genuine £129.72

    Aftermarket £89.91

    Water pump

    Genuine £45.91

    Aftermarket £39.51

    Labour £270

There are also a few bolts that have to be replaced so allow about £15 for those and £12 for coolant.
