Well I suspect you'll need a module to code cruise tbh given age, not many back then had compatible modules fitted.

What sort of module is it I'd need? Wold it replace an existing part or wold it be a whole new part?

You need to get vcds on to check module 16 & see if it codes for cruise, if not this needs replacing.

Right so almost exactly a year after first thinking of this - I'm finally getting round to it.

ive found this on ebay AUDI A3 8P1 (2007) 2.0 TFSI (BWA) INDICATOR + CRUISE CONTROL STALK - 8P0953513 | eBay - its from a newer car (57 whereas mines 54) does anyone know if it will be compatible? It says from 2003-2013?

You still need to check whether your steering control unit is compatible with cruise.

Right - just spoken to Audi - the steering module on mine is 8P0953549G - he reckoned it would be compatible with no extra bits.

Also - I've been looking at a cruise stalk on ebay - thats come out of a 57 plate A3 (mines 54) - any idea if it will work? The chap from audi said they changed it in 2007, but can't confirm if it affected 57 plate cars

OK seems it is indeed compatible with cruise.

Stalks only changed on 2010+ cars where it became a spring back for the dipped beam and incorporated something else. But everything from 04-09 afaik is the same except the little pictures on the stalk might've been altered.

Excellent! So what controls the throttle? Is it electronic?
also - I know someone who's breaking an R reg A8, which has cruise, would that stalk work on my a3? I. Assuming probably not due to the age difference?
