    Hi guys,
Finally decided to do first mod on my A6-set of DRL is on the way down from China (e-bay sourced)
I need help with wiring them in.
I'm planning to do them simple - they'll stay on when ignition on,
Can some one please advise me where I can connect my live wire in front bumper/under bonnet/or even fuse box areas?
Desperate for advise as don't want to pay auto electrician for simple job
    Thanks guys!

Jim had an electrician do them for him Chris...

Above extract from this post link:- Aftermarket DRL Placement? - Page 2

My idea is not simple... more of what I would try to do if I had halogen headlights like OP...

It would involve wiring to J519... I think from when I last check wiring diagrams...

A re encode of [09] - Central Electronics

    • 0xxxx?x: Daytime Running Lights
      • 0 = w/o Daytime Running Lights
      • 1 = with Daytime Running Lights (not selectable via MMI)
      • 2 = with Daytime Running Lights (selectable via MMI)

So MMI menu could be used to switch DRL's off/on, they would also go off when dipped/main beam used...

Again theory... but test could be done to check if doable... can't do test on mine as I have xenon's factory fitted... so DRL (bulb type) are in place already in headlight, coding, wiring, etc...

    Cheers mate!
But this route is little to expensive and too much hassle.
I've decided for simple ones (and cheap enough) :

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-5-LED-C...71045540880%26

They are fitted to that Slovak A6 from Jim's thread.
All I need to do now is to find easy accessible live feed where I can connect positive wire.

And yes you're right - sparky wired in Jim's lights

The route is not any more expensive.... as you will be wiring your "China" LED DRL's into a harness on a control module which powers/controls you lights already...

As to hassle I can not evaluate as I do not know what Jim and his sparky did... but what I am suggesting would (fingers cross) give you ability to switch them on/off through MMI thus look factory fit/professional

Again only my view... I would wire to J519 as that controls lights...

Please ref info on here Link:- http://www.audi-portal.com/en/diagno...u_12134.html#1

J519 is located behind trim driver side dash.... just above your knees is a piece of trim which can be easily removed...

Where J519 is located means you can run a wire from engine bay to it via plenum chamber electric box...

I'm just an owner... I've had my car a year... good car for a forum member as I've had plenty issues with it... so it was a learning curve that I had to understand otherwise I think it would have left an even bigger dent in my wallet than the £4K I've spent on it

Besides Audi portal for info there some handy PDF's on VolksPage.Net - Technik - SSP - Self Study Program VAG

    The one's concerning the A6 are 323, 324, 326, 344, the 286 is also a good read...

On Audi portal you can also put sensors/actuators numbers in to get info location, etc try one from out of the SSP's

    Audi Portal: Sensors Diagnostic

    Audi Portal: Actuators Diagnostic

If you PM me a external email I can send you a PDF showing wiring diagram...

My view is that if you linked DRL connection to either one A1 (Right DRL) or A6 (Left DRL ) that would get you a positive...

Say my harness going to connector point A on above image will have pin/wiring in it as I have DRL's in headlight... yours may not...

But you could buy a pre crimped repair wire for the plug, which get you a nice neat connection, on other end of that you would have wiring going to the DRL... this I would route from J519 up through hole in dash to the plenum chamber box possibly giving it it's own little hole in box with a grommet for water tightness to DRL...

To code for menu option you would need VCDS or you could possibly manage through GREEN service menu as some options can be added via that (again as my German not good and service menu is all in German and not had time to check this is just FYI)

The first test I would do before doing anything if I was in your shoes would be to enable DRL menu in MMI then check if the points highlighted come live...

I do not know if you have VCDS or have a member close to you who can enable menu option... I do not know if your module will support this option either...

As I have not seen a post which done it this way it was something I wanted to put out there

To anyone reading this it is all theory
