    Hi, my old (1996) A4 keeps overheating.

    I have changed the water pump and the thermostat on 2 occasions which solves the problem for a short time then it comes back. Car has done 195k and want to get it to 200k if possible!!

    Any suggestions ????

    i had a problem with mine overheating cause the viscous fan (the big one bolted to the engine was pants and there was no electric fan in mine (god only knows why not) but i have since retro fitted two fans t the front of the rad and wired them to the thermo switch also check your water level / oil cap see if theres any emulsifing id as a mater of priority get a compression test done could be down to a cracked head or it could be sumthin simple like the temp switch not coming on in time as in is it the corect rated fan swqitch for the car ?? is there blades missing or broken on it etc etc??
