The no sanding kits are for light misting, if you can feel the glass is rough it needs sanding.

Hi guys I have also used the 3M kit on my 1997 A6 after the uv coating started to break down This is a much cheaper option than replacing the headlights, OK you loose the uv protection but its the coating breaking down that is making the lights yellow. Its still a strange feeling taking a sander to the headlights but full instructions come with the kit and the results are BRILLpic 1.jpgpic 3.jpg

Have to agree, the 3M Restoration Kit is fantastic, used one earlier this year, lights still look crystal clear...

Does the 3M kit come with a UV coating restoring cloth like the Turtle Wax kit?

I'm looking into getting the 3m kit as it seems to yield pretty good results, but what would be the problem with not restoring the UV coating? Would the plastic inside the headlights fade or something?

Is there anything that could be used after the 3m kit to restore the UV coating?

The Turtle wax kit comes with a wipe that puts a good coating on the plastic, otherwise I imagine the shine will go off quite quickly.

I just use regular 3m polish. Fist sand with 1200 paper and water, then polish with 09374, 09375 and last 09376. Like new!
