    Hello all,

Have a 2005 Audi A3 5door 2.0 tdi, which has a damp smell coming from the climate control. Have tried changing the pollen filter and regasing the ac system but now realised it seems to be worse when temp is set to "HI". Wasnt to bad in the summer (What we had of one) but now seems to be even worse whenever it rains. Also have noticed the windscreen is misting up when the has been sat over night and gets even more fogged up when the blowers are turued on in the morning. Any ideas where the water could be getting in??

If your model is similar to the 2001 one, there is a possibility that water is entering pollen filter from a poorly fitted plastic scuttle at bottom of windscreen
Was the pollen filter that you replaced completely dry?
If water is getting in here it needs to be eliminated as it causes electrical problems.
    Regards
    Michael

replaced the pollen filter about 3 months ago and it was dry then, just checked it again now and was a little dusty and smelly but dry as a bone. Every thing else in the vacinity seems to be dry and free from any water maks aswell.

I suppose the process of elimination is next
Are the footwells dry under carpets
There are some posts regarding disinfecting a/c for bacteria.
I have come across a plastic funnel type drain from a/c in an A6 which was blocked, it emerges through bulkhead n/s to engine bay but is concealed by
sound insulation material. (not sure if A3 is same)
I expect if you were to use a/c for a period and parked on a dry surface you should see water emerging from drain area, if no water emerges it may be coming in to footwell.
