    Hi All,

New to the forum but have been reading some posts about issues with Bluetooth modules. I have a 2007 S6 and had it in with an independent garage on Monday to have brake shoes replaced. Since then the Radio has been cutting out every 2 minutes or so for about 3 seconds, then it comes back on. I can't connect my phone to bluetooth anymore and the voice functions don't work. If I set the BT pin, then the radio cuts out, the pin resets to 0000.

I don't know why this happened after it was in the garage, maybe just a big coincidence.

I bought a VCDS and did some scans, here are the results:

It looks like an intermittent fault on the BT module. There is no dampness in the passenger footwell. If I am in module 77 in VCDS and the radio cuts out I loose comms with the module, but can then go straight back in.
I have the car booked in with the dealer on Wednesday but don't fancy paying a fortune if I can sort this myself. Is there any way with VCDS to reset/reboot the BT module to see if that helps? Or does it look like I need a new one?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi,

    Welcome to S6 ownership!

I had exactly the same issue, to confirm a dying BT module you need to run an optical scan.

Search on "Avant tailgate and MMI issues - connected?" I had lots of help to sort it out.

Shout if anything is not clear.

    Best of luck,

    Hi ukandyb,

    Thanks for the replay.

I did an optical scan and it comes up with an error on the telephone. I've ordered a MOST bridge adapter so will take the BT module out and see if that sorts the issues, I can live without phone support but the cutting out of the radio is extremely annoying and I have to drive to germany on Saturday :|

Here is the optical scan report :

    Hi,

Did not see you had already done an Optical Scan, was looking on the iPad...

Anyway, it does look like a dead BT module and a MOST bridge adaptor should sort you out in the short term.

I did do a step by step on how I changed my BT module, all I can say is that the trim was a sod to get out and put back - just take your time and have something soft to stand your seat on.

When you get round to replacing the BT the difference between an eBay unit and one from Audi was not great enough for me to forego a warranty so I went to Audi. Stafford Audi were great in arranging an exchange unit and credited my card back the same day they received the faulty unit back from me.

    Cheers and good luck.

I called Audi today and they want ~£300 for a new BT unit, that's with PXing my old one. With it being intermittent I'm wondering if it will be possible to fix. When I get it out i'm going to test the power lines to make sure that isn't the issue, if it is the module then does anyone know someone who might be able to repair them?

    Cheers all.

Thanks all for your advise. To give you an update, I took this afternoon off work and came home via screwfix (to get a socket set that included a M10 Spline) and via an Audi dealer to get the Optical bridge. I had full intentions of removing the seat and taking out the BT module. I did notice that the MMI didn't cut out at all on the way home. I hooked up VCDS and did a Optical Bus scan and everything came back clear. My phone also saw the BT module and I could pair them and make calls...

So now I'm really confused... It's as if the car knew I was going to rip a bit out and it's all decided to work again.

I'm going to see how it goes and hope the symptoms don't re-occur on the way to Germany. I also now have an optical bridge, socket set and VCDS cable that I didn't really need to use.
