Hi all just an encouraging note for anybody contemplating taking on this job. Before you start be sure that you have the new matrix available, not like me wait over a week for it to arrive while the car is in bits.
After fearing the job and selling 3 cars previously so as not to do the job, I recently took on the job on my sons' H plate 2.3 coupe.Ideally start the job inside just in case the weather is bad , because its easier to do with the doors both open.
You can search the forum for a "how to do " link or the Haynes manual is reasonably helpful so long as you have a bit of a clue also.
It took me around 2 hours to strip out, a week waiting for the new part and around 4 hours to re fit.
The longer time re fitting because I had forgotten a few clips etc and their locations so that is why I suggest that you do the job in one hit while it is all fresh in your mind.
So with all the parts at hand a days work easily.
I only post this message because some may be daunted with idea of pulling out the dash board, as I was ,but it is a very simple procedure and with the grotty old winter mornings on the way the thought of a steamed up and damp smelling car casn be quite depressing, so give it a go and you'll be glad you did.

    a day ?
we went at the avant recently, knowing what we were in for as we had done the coupe a few years ago but it still took 2 days in total. maybe the b3 dash is less sophisticated than a b4.
if its not then i will be getting you over to do the next one for us.
