    Hi.

I've had my 2006 Allroad 2.7 TDi quattro tyres balance and the car tracked but it is still wearing the tyres on the insides on the front. The rears are less worn on the insides but still there is signs of wear on the inside of the tyre. They didn't track it at every level of the air suspension - just at "Automatic" level.
    The tyres are 255/25/17.

Everything else seems ok with the car and there are no excessive loads.

Anyone else experiencing this or is it just normal for an Allroad?

If the front wear was due to tracking then I suspect the previuos owner noticed this and swopped the fronts to the rear and now the fronts have worn prior to the tracking. Once a tyres wear like this they do not even out with mileage but continue to wear unevenly. Do you have the print out of your tracking and what figures have been set. Regards Peter

I don't have any problem with mine, the tyre wear is even. Audi quattro system does need to have the wheels lined up properly. Was it laser 4 wheel tracked and how accurate did the get it set up?

Interesting what Peter D says about the wear. You want to make sure your car isn't going to scrub a new set of tyres but you won't know if it's now OK until you fit new tyres. Dilemma!

Make sure it is tracked properly and no wear on any suspension joints, then keep a careful look at the wear on your new set?

Get a 4 wheel laser alignment done at Audi as it is made for the quattro system and does everything to spec.

£100 is what I paid for my alignment.

I have an Allroad and having had it laser tracked at the dealers have no issues with tyres. I noticed some wear when I was changing to summer tyres last year and as they were almost illegal decided to get the tracking done before buying a new set - Goodyear Asymmetric 2's. The dealer said (how true I don't know) that it takes some time to do the tracking as it must be checked at various levels.
    Not normal I would say......

I asked the dealer here in Ireland about the laser tracking and they said it's not laser but some radio frequency alignment. Have no clue how that would work.

He had clearly been drinking. There is no such thing as radio frequency alignment. Regards Peter

No, not quite. The radio frequency is 2.4Ghz and is solely for the wireless link from each device attached to each wheel to the computer system. This removes the cabling requirement. It does not use Radio Frequencies to measure the alignment. Regards Peter
