Well the dreaded has occurred leaking bags!
Looks like Arnott have Gen II air shocks out at around £100 more than the first generation
So my question is .. if the first generation ones have a lifetime warranty what would be the advantage in having Gen IIs
Look forward to your input folks

The Lifetime warranty now only applies in the US, I think i read its 2 years everywhere else. The gen 2 bags have a sleeve around them changing the ride and I suppose protecting the bag slightly more. I personally would stick with the gen 1 as you only need to change the leaking one, where as changing to gen 2 would suggest changing in pairs.

Didn't realise it was 2 years in the UK, thanks for heads up on that, I was toiling on doing both as it would be just my luck the other one to fail, the cars done 113K on originals.
There are German ones on Ebay that give a 2 year warranty so these would save on import duty too.

Are these German ones Arnott or OEM? If so I would seriously consider the Arnott as they are far superior quality.

    Here's the German one
Audi A6 4B C5 Allroad Air Suspension Front Spring Strut | eBay

Also seen this one, which states made in the USA, so could be an Arnott one?
AUDI Allroad A6 4B C5 Quattro Front Air Suspension Spring Bag Strut | eBay

Know what you mean Arnott have a good reputation and many on here have used them, so probably wise to go that way..

They both look like Arnott to me, or at least the pictures of them have Arnott written on... It would be best to order direct from Arnott, as you need to be sure they're genuine resellers and you may get away without paying duty if you're lucky. I had 2 front Gen 1 springs off them couple years back. Never had any problems since...

Yep Make sure you go for arnott ones, there is a cheap copy going about europe, but there are sellers in the UK "supposedly" selling arnott ones see link below:

AUDI Allroad A6 4B C5 Quattro Front Air Suspension Spring Bag Strut | eBay

i still would only change 1, unless you have the money, Maybe thats the tight scotsman in me , I have 3 original airbags at 130k (you know my next post is going to be I need to replace one, now i have said that!!!)

    regards

Cheers Guys, you've both now convinced me Arnott is the way to go, and think I'll be just getting the one from them for now.

I've seen a few posts on the Americam forums complaining that the Gen II's ride too hard.

Personally, the last thing I need is an Audi that rides harder!

    Maybe I'm just getting old...

Well guys been out and sprayed around the bag and can't see any leaks, unless it's round the back which I can't see, I've been and had a code read and this came up ..
    1 Fault Found
01772 - Signal from Level Control Pressure Sensor (G291)
    27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

I've left it at level 2 and its been staying at that overnight for 3 days now, but whilst driving the compressor kicks in periodically which I've never noticed before.. perhaps I'm getting paranoid and listening for every squeak, and rattle!
I'll set it at level 1 tonight and see if it drops again as that was the level it happened at the weekend ..

    Regards
