    I've seen this question posed a few times but not found a definitive answer on my searches.

    The CCM in my 2003 A6 Avant has the part number 4B0 962 258 K. In the absence of finding one the same as this can I use one with a later suffix letter such as
    4B0 962 258 L, 4B0 962 258 N or 4B0 962 258 X?

    Any answer to this? I need to buy a new CCM but don't want to blow a pile of cash on an incompatible part.

    Using VagCat I find the following;

    4B0962258K - electronic control unit for central locking system / for models with anti- theft alarm system / F >> 4B-2-200 000
    4B0962258N - electronic control unit for central locking system / for models with anti- theft alarm system / F 4B-3-000 001>>

    Because there are two different options (based on the car's VIN) you'd be wise to contact an Audi dealership (or send Crasher a PM with your VIN) to see what the latest revision of your CCM (...K) should be.

    Usually the generic answer would be "you can recode the CCM to match" but in this case, I'd double check.

    Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

    Thanks for the reply Sam. I'll try and track down a 4B0962258K variant if I can ... I think it may well end up being less complicated replacing like for like.

    Edit: I contacted BBA Reman for a quote. Initial test fee is £35 plus carriage, plus VAT. With a repair price of between £100-£150.00 plus carriage, plus VAT. Potentially a very costly option heading up into Audi main ******* prices.
