    Hi all,

Always been an Audi owner, just replaced my last Audi a6 1.8t C5 (2001) with the a newer 2008 Audi a6 le mans/s line 3.0 tdi Quattro (black).

Of course I was really happy with this car, the car is amazingly strong at pulling away, however the looks of the car being so clean and fresh have been disrupted within only a week of buying it.

Someone has gone round and deliberately scratched the chrome window trims (all round).

Is there a way of polishing these scratches out or is it buy new trims plus are they easy to put off/on screws or riveted?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

No idea on polishing maybe post in detailing section with photo's someone maybe able to advise seeing damage/depth of scratches...

    Link:- General Detailing/Cleaning Questions

Will check price of new strips and post back, but most if not all are riveted IIRC...

On ease (only looking at guide) PITA, maybe PM OP in this thread for first hand info... Link:- Rear door card removal?

Why on earth would someone do that? Must have been a bored child. I can't imagine you being able to polish them as when they discolour the only cure is replacement. You are looking at £300 of parts and from what I remember you have to take the window frame off to fit the ones on the doors which means a full door strip down. There are some evil little ******** around!

What colour is your car? I would say if it doesnt bother you much go get a rattle can and can respray it silver?
Although it wont be the same chrome colour. I have been thinking about doing mine as the colour is dull and faded now.

Apologies for the pictures, it would not let me upload them individually as the sizes was too big, therefore I have had to cramp them on to one image.

I was told that maybe I should spray them into a satin black finish, front grill included to make it look like the Audi Le Mans Black Edition.. does this even exist?

I really just wanted to have the car as it was, but you know when you buy a car something/someone always has to christen it. Perhaps this was the christening but it was an evil one. What I am grateful about is that it wasn’t the paint work but if it feels that someone deliberately went out of their way to scratch all the chrome as if it was someone that didn’t want to scratch the black body work as then it would cost too much to repair, might be out of spite!!.

    Hi,

The colour is black and I was thrown a suggestion to spray it satin black to finish it off as a le mans black edition. My only hesitation to do this is the spray job its self (how long would it last wear and tear etc)

Yes, black optics is an optional extra... to make it look factory like you would also have to paint the chrome inserts on door handles...

Sorry looking for pre facelift saloon... but found facelift Avant...
