    Hi all i wonder if anyone can help me with this ive a 2006 1.9tdi jetta engine code bxe,recently ive noticed that my mpg is dropping i used to get 55mpg all day long now im lucky if i get 50! i recently had the fuel filter changed (since this really that its dropped) anyone have any ideas ive got no fault lights up either so this has got me lost

    Is that mpg measured on the trip computer? If so, then you really need to check the actual usage by brimming it, driving for a few hundred miles then brimming it again.

    as above - verify the actual MPG brim-to-brim and ensure it's not just the DIS playing tricks, as it so often does.

    Also, not sure if this applies in staffs but we've had a significant drop in average temps recently from 22+ to just above 10, that alone can cause a drop in MPG.

    I hate winter for a variety of reasons, MPG killing being one of them.

    cheers esh,driving to work this morning temp was 10+ was getting 52 then coming home tonight temp 24. went upto 58mpg at 75mph,your right about the mfd its all over the place driving round last weekend same temperatures and was only doing 38mpg at one point,but was not drinking fuel at all
