Help my daughter has a 2005 Audi A3 1.9 TDI for some weeks now she has been experiencing starting problems when hot, on an extremely hot day even the ambient temp seems to effect it.

Symptoms: Go out when engine cold starts fine, drive the for say a 30 mins stop the engine try to restart it glow plug light fails to go out engine management light fails to come on, turn on and off several times engine glow plug lights flickers engine management light comes on the car will now start (on most occasions) otherwise you have to leave for say an hour to cool down (worse on a hot day)
My daughter has taken it to her local garage who fitted glow plug relay, engine management power relay temp sensor and fuel pump relay with no improvement and no fault codes present.
    Any suggestions apprciated.
    Thanks Bob

On the bkd there are 2 senders, but not sure on the 1.9, but if there are 2 & they replaced both, then I would try a starter tbh given age, they brought out a revision if its the same as the bkd, iirc its the H version now, changed both of ours & the difference in starting was like day/night.

On your V5 under engine number, spare wheel well sticker beside engine code or inside your service book on the front page, also on a sticker.

I am happy with the glow plug relay used.

The ECU relay would be the line 15 relay which is J329 at R1 in the engine bay with 433 on top and part number 3D0 951 253 A but now superseded to 7N0 951 253 for cars up to the end of 2006 production. IKO 906 381 would be actually be 1K0 906 381 and is the ECU relay for 2007 onwards models. Your car is chassis WAUZZZ8P85A****** and relay 1K0 906 381 is for cars built from WAUZZZ8P87A000001, two model years later.

4HO 951 253 C is 4H0 951 253 C and is the windscreen washer relay with 646 printed on top as you say but replaces relay numbers 395 and 404 on a 2008 onwards model

I get the fuel pump relay as being J17 at position 2.1 (separate relay holder under dash) part number 7M0 951 253 C and 404 printed on top for newer supplies instead of 395 as original.
