    Evening all

Contemplating of leaving my a3 for an s3. But unsure if I should go s tronic or stick to manual. When I test drove the r8 the "r tronic" was unbelievable responsive, obviously I'm not quite expecting the same standards on the s3 but what are people's opinions? Is it worth it over a manual? Is there a lag between gear change or jolts?

    Many thanks

Stronic any day of the year mate, makes driving allot more comfortable imho, no clutch down gear change million times a day, in traffic manuals are pita & I'm not an old man, yet lol, gear changes are very quick, if the s3 hasnt been thrashed everywhere then you shouldnt notice any issues with the gearbox at all, but get car scanned on test drive aswell by someone with vcds to make sure no hidden surprises.

I drove manuals for years & S manual cars for 9 years leading upto the dsg's we have now, so no slouch & have to say best move I ever made, will never go back now.

    Thanks for the reply.

Every time I read about them it sounds ace and makes me want one ever more. I mean who wouldn't want a sporty car with formula 1 paddle shift changes... It's like being a kid again and I bet great fun on the road. So I just want to clarify, the s tronic is semi auto, from this I'm presuming you can have it either in auto (7 gears) and let it change automatically or for that little race you can keep it in auto but use the paddles for a quicker gear change? Or does it have one or the other eg manual OR auto and has to be selected prior to driving. (if that makes sense)

I'm not quite sure on how Audi price things because Im looking at 2 cars, both for £19,995. However at the maidstone branch they're selling:
    Ibis white
    sat nav
    half leather / swade seats
    38k miles
    2009 (09 plate)
    manual

    And yet Eastbourne are selling:
    Black
    half leather
    17k miles
    2010 (10 plate)
    S tronic

And there both the same price, surely the black one at 20k miles less, a year newer an has S tronic is more attractive. How can Audi Maidstone justify the same price. Just because it's white & has satnav? I don't think so! I do like the white though

Eastbourne is Caffyns & I know Brighton Audi very well & they are also Caffyns, try talking with Brighton audi as they have usually very good customer service & can get the car of eastbourne anyway afaik.

Nav can be fitted afterwards so thats not even a concern, just the colour is your choice mate.

The aftersales guy at Brighton audi is now Derek Willis, he will be able to get you onto someone to look after you for the sale, just say Nigel aka vagcom/vcds said to give them a shout

I'll point him towards you if you PM me your number

Thanks for the information mate, I'm still debating weither to update or not, seeing as there's nothing wrong with mine and it's a lot to pay for a new toy. I will PM you if something inspires me to go for it.

Strange how the favourite audi has now increased by £1000.

First of all it´s a 6 speed "automatic" or "manual" and it also has an "sport" option for auto-mode. Aggressive shift points etc. And yes - you can select between those three modes (auto/sport/manual) on the fly.
