Hi, how do you get the Sat Nav to re-route while diving? For example you come across a closed road or bad traffic and you want to find an alternate route. My old Garmin portable device had an Avoid button that would recalculate to an alternative route and attempt to get me around the problem, which was very handy.

I have the MMI Plus sat nav, did look for it in the manual but couldn't see it.

Only thing I can find in the manual is 'Excluding a route' on page 104, my manual is dated 11.2011

Press the control button for tour
Turn the rotary pushbutton to Exclude Route and press the rotary pushbutton.
To determine the length of the route section you want to exclude, then the rotary pushbutton clockwise or anti-clockwise

Can't speak for MMI High, but on the standard system from the Nav map display screen you can select "Route" (Top Right Button) and then select "Avoid Route From Here" and then select how much of the route you want to avoid. Once that is done it recalculates the route. Would assume the MMI High system has a similar option

well spotted with the excluding route option, that seems to do the job thank you. We don't have a Route option in the Top Right, we have Criteria and doesn't have that option but sounds exactly the same, just under Tour (Top Left) and called Exclude Route instead to make it less obvious

It had to be in there somewhere!

My Jag X-Type had a 'Detour' button on the Sat Nav back in 2001; first time I took my girlfriend - who became wife - down to her parents (a route she had used for about 15 years) down the A303, the 'usual' queue formed before the Countess Roundabout. One click of the detour button and we were on the back roads past the Artillery college at Larkhill, missed out Stonehenge and everything - she was most put out as she'd never found that option and had queued many many times!

Wow! Thanks for this!! I never knew about this option. I was on the A50 approaching a big tailback Saturday lunchtime, and could have used this feature! As it was, the silly robotic woman kept trying to re-route me back to the jammed-up A50 for ages after going "off piste" and finding my own way through.

    Cheers!
