    It could be either;

    egr solenoid

    changeover flap solenoid

    turbo control solenoid.

    Best way to be sure is to follow the vacuum lines from it.

    One will go to other vacuum lines via 't' pieces and all the way back to the vacuum pump.

    The other will go the the component it controls.

    If it is clicking at idle, my guess would be that it is the EGR control solenoid.

    hi mate yea its clicks on idle and clicks faster when i rev with bonnet open so i can hear.
    1) What is the EGR control solenoid?
    2) Is it meant to click stupidly loud?
    3) Can these brake/fail what happens if they do
    4) Are they expensive

    Have you followed the vacuum lines to further help identify which solenoid it is?

    Once you have, post up here for more info.

    I think they cost about £30-40 (guess)
