    Hi all,

having had a few problems with my B5 S4 '98 and using a Gendan cable and VCDS lite I got some codes for the EGT Sensors both have now been replaced and the error codes have good - Good times

the engine is still running lumpy especially under load. I do not get any error codes in VCDS lite in engine 1 section.

on using the measuring block section I can see that when looking at about number 8 or so the one with the lambda sensors on it. I can see that the one side is holding steady at about 25% and the other side is fluctuating from about 14% to 30%

Surely I would get an error code in VCDS somewhere if the lambda sensor was broken or not working properly? anyone know what section?

the only other thing I can think of is that it is either plugs or coils? can I check misfires on VCDS Lite ( unregistered) re my other post is vagcom the only way to go - Page 2

    and

    1998 s4 lumpy - plugs or coils

what are peoples thoughts on this. is it time to check the plugs?....

    AHGR

    cheers

With no codes I would take a look at the lambda values and probably fit new plugs and leads.

HI crasher, thanks for the reply.

I just pulled off the leads to each coil pack in turn and each made the engine run even lumpier, making me think that it is not related to the plugs or coils uless it is a plug thats gone. will try and take these out when this incessant rain decides to stop for more than an hour!!!

I am certain that my fuel economy is way down wuold this be a symptom of a dodgy lambda sensor?...
