Greetings all. I have the MMI 3G and there are 2 things that are currently annoying me.

1 Each time I start the car, the radio switches on whether I want it or not. Sometimes after I switch it off immediately, it comes back on again!. Surely there is some way of stopping this from happening?

2 When using the navigation, I get a 'now turn left' message when it is not required.

Also on the Media 'source' screen the display is indicating an 'AV' input and is highlighted in orange which usually indicates that there is a device connected, however I cannot find the connector anywhere.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks.

    1. There was a thread posted in the C7 section yesterday about the very same problem. Try pressing MEDIA before turning the car off with no media inserted.

    2. There is a firmware update available from Audi - I believe it's FOC.

I'm not sure if i'm missing something here? I've seeen this complaint before but if you turn it of before leaving the car it shouldn't come back on, mine doesn't. Are you turning it off?

Can't answer the AV question, all my inputs are labelled CD, AMI, SD Card etc.

Just went out and checked on my 2G

If the system is turned off before ignition off, it stays off on car restart and just shows the screensaver.

    Must be a 3G thing.

It seems to me that when i look at the display at the bottom of the MMI screen that if you turn the volume all the way down, the speaker symbol will get a line through it meaning mute. However when you press the button on top of the volume control, the symbol for mute symbol will also come on. Im not certain but I am not confident that the system is ever truly 'off', just in some kind of standby state. When I resume the music from the sd card of jukebox etc. the music picks up from where I left it.

Thank you for the replies by the way and i will try the following steps. 1 Listen to music/radio at normal volume. 2. Press switch to turn it off 3. Remove ignition key.

When I turn on the ignition next, I will eagerly await to see what happens.

I have read that the AV input should be located somewhere in the centre console box. But I can see nothing that looks like a port. The MMI gives me the option of AV1 or AV2. When I select either the screen goes dark, obviously because there is nothing connected. But shouldnt the MMI list of sources show the AV input as greyed out as there is no AV input in the car? Mine is orange which usually means that it has been detected. I know it does for the sd cards etc. and the TV system.

    Regards.

you need to press and hold the vol/on/off button for 2 seconds or more to switch it off.

Re the Source list, do you have the MMI operation manual? My source list appears as the image on page 61. I haven't seen AV1 or AV2 on mine? The item is greyed out when disconnected. The more CDs in the changer the longer the list.

x2 - just tapping it mutes the volume.

As you can see in my video I held the mute button for a couple of seconds and the system turned off.

NNNNNOOOoooo!! Does this mean I will at some point need to retrofit MMI 3G as this was one of the things (plus dealer only updates on maps, etc) stopping me Link:- MMI2 Radio/CD Always On at Startup - Page 2

So if you don't switch off MMI you have have volume not remembered, etc and loud/default volume as per linked thread??

The MMI 2G High in my car behave like this...

    i) it remembers which last played source ie DAB, STD Radio, AMI, CD

ii) it remembers last volume setting, mute setting as well

iii) it it remembers state ie ON or with "Audi MMI" screen saver logo thing, IIRC if MMI screen was powered down or not

iv) it it remembers which menu you were in ie CAR, TEL, and so on... also if sub menu with a section and you "Return" to higher level and go back to the sub menu you were in it will remember what setting you had last adjusted...

Please can a member with 3G give maximum depth on behaviour and function of their system
