    Hi all

Me again with my 99 Alhambra 1.9 tdi 110bhp

My reverse lights don't work, I fixed the wires in the boot lid gator, changed fuses and bulbs. I'm having real trouble trying to find my reverse light switch, I have a new switch, but can't for the life of me find the one on the car anywhere. I have read that it should be on the gearbox, some say top front, some say under the fuel filter, but i really can't find it anywhere on the gearbox. I spent hours looking for it earlier, I've had the battery and tray out I have lowered the box off the mount, i have been under it, looked from above from the side and I just can't find it. I can see the gear linkage and beneath that there is a connector that connects to a plastic case with a metal clip on each side, I've taken this off and removed the clips and case, but couldn't find anything inside that might be where I would replace the switch, and the only other connector I can find is the one thats more to the back and left, it has the little heat shield round it.

Looking from the top I can see at the front of the box the bleed nipple and the hydraulic line in, then on top of the box I can see the gear linkage and beneath that the electrical connector.

Can anyone tell me where the switch is in relation to any of the things I have mentioned, could my box be slightly different ? or am I in the wrong place altogether. I have looked everywhere that is accessible, and felt with my hands everywhere else that I could get them to.

Anything, any advise, or hints or anything would be appreciated greatly.

    Many many thanks

I eventually got the reverse light sorted. Its right under the gear linkage right on top of the box. Its not like any other reverse light switch that I can remember. Its plastic and is held on by 2 big silver clips. There is no bolt head or screws. I had great trouble getting the part, and ended up at a Seat dealership, seems its a dealer only part, and even then had a little trouble. If your reverse light switch is the same and you are having trouble acquiring the right one, it the revision A. Hope this helps someone as this had me in circle for literally months

    Hi,

We have an alhambra and same problem, reverse light switch has gone. Did you locate it near the battery compartment? Is it easy viewable?

    Many Thanks

    Hi mate

You can see the switch onto of the gearbox you should be able to see the silver clips when you look down, there are 2 silver clips holding it on, the switch itself is like a plastic cube. I was able to change it by just sticking my hand down, tight squeeze and a couple of cuts but its easy enough.

Thats the type that was on my 1999 Alhambra. I cant take a picture of it in situ as I don't have it anymore.

    Hope this helps.
