Hi all!

Spent the evening interrogating my car. Took the MAF off, cleaned it. Took the EGR off, cleaned it. I have never seen so much soot in a mechanical object in all my life! Honestly, this thing must have had half a cm all around the inside. Didn't manage to clean the breather pipe (silver one) as I didn't want to push a load of soot down the pipe.

I know I probably should have done as it may now result in me having to clean it all again but hey ho...

Anywho, taken it out, beat it up and it was perfect. No more irrational idle, no more lack of turbo boost, no smoke (not that there was any) and lots 'o' power.. I'm not sure if I am getting used to the boost but can't work out if there is as much... It still pushes you back into your seat and has torque steer though...

So, ANYONE experiencing this, do what I have just done. Did it all in 2 hours and possibly saved myself £100 by not getting "no fault found" by Audi. Fingers crossed, that is the end of it.

One question I do have is.... Under the usual hobble and bobble of the diesel engine noise, mine has an obvious... Er.... Growl. It is perfectly timed but difficult to describe... Does anyone else have another layer of noise beneath the idle?
