    as above, ive had a look online and there seems to be loads of problems with the econ button on.

    whats the best way to find out whats causing the problem

    You need to detail the issue. Econ on means no aircon, the car uses the heater only to raise temperature if needed.

    Diagnostic scan is needed - you might need a regas or a common failing part is a pressure sensor but check first.

    iagnostic function. Just press and hold the CIRC & ECON buttons on the Climatronic panel. Then the Climatronic system will perform a self-diagnostic test. If it displays "444 00" there is no faults stored. The codes that are available are an exact match for the regularly published list of Climatronic DTC's, except they are shown in hexadecimal instead of decimal. For example, the fault code 04FA on the front panel is 1274 in decimal. If you're not familiar with converting hexadecimal numbers to decimal, you can do so using the Windows accessory Calculator. From the View menu, switch to Scientific, pick Hex and enter something, then switch to Dec.
