Audi A3 2006 2.0Tdi s line 170 - Any advice on buying?

Guys

I'm moving from BMW to Audi and am looking to buy a 3 door A3 2.0Tdi s line 170. I'm looking for any tips/pointers on what to look for and guidance on price.

I have a budget of £8k. From what I've seen I should get one with 70-80k miles with a full history (as most have).

Any input at all would be greatly appreciated.

Have a read through the forum and you'll find a few threads asking the same questions, so you shopuld be able to find out what you need fairly quickly!

How are you getting on with your quest?

Alankru's list of forum threads should be helpful indeed. I think when you approach buying an A3 you should check the known issues which should have been highlighted in these posts. I bought mine about a year ago - £10750, 44K on the clock, same spec your after, one genuine previous owner and full Audi service history, from a private seller - has been one of the best cars I have bought so far....a genuine real deal.

It also depends where you are buying from. I suppose most like security of buying from main dealer as buying privately can be risky but prices are generally lower and deals can be made more easily - also depends on whether you need to part-ex too.

Are you going for manual or DGS/Tiptronic? Leather or cloth?

I don't know much about the 3dr as mines' a SB but after a year, still loving it!
