    Hi,

I have an A4 Avant B7 with Bose upgrade and it has the iPod connector in the glovebox...

Now, I know that MP3 quality is less than CD but mine really doesnt seem very good. The volume is no where near as high as the radio and the bass and treble quality it utter toot.

Does anyone else have this issue? I am only running a Nano iPod and so I doubt its capability is very good anyway but wondering if its due to that or if the cars system isnt very good.

I am using the Dension adapter but I doubt the problem will be in the adapter. Do you have any Equalizer set on the iPod? I think there used to be a setting which also limited the volume from the iPod too so it's worth looking into that.

For what it's worth I have Bose, RNS-e and use my iPhone and the quality is as near to CD that I can't distinguish. Mind you my mp3s are all at least 192kbps and most are 320.

Well the socket that the ipod goes into is considerably bigger than the iPod itself so I think it might be flapping about... I have had to bulster the iPod up with some bluetack..

Perhaps I will try my iPhone and see if that is better. Might purchase the extension lead so I can still see whats going on with my phone... Legally of course

Yes but you won't have maps.

Put your music on a 2gb sd card and you'll still have maps.

Yeah thats fine as I am awaiting a new Maps DVD anyway...

So if I put a CD in the slot behind the RNS-e screen, it wont screw it up?

Also, do you know what the sound quality is like using the 2gb card/does it show track names - unlike the ipod :/

    It won't mess it up.

It will show track names and provide the quality of the audio file that its given. Ie if it's given a 320kbps file it will play it at that bitrate.
