RNS-E Plus - Sat Nav Software/Firmware Upgarde - Is it worth it?

Afternoon,

I have RNS-E Plus with the following software/firmware versions;

SW : 0550
HW : H73

Sat Nav Map Version : M1N061018-EN0603

I don't believe these are the latest versions as the car is 5yrs old, and I only enabled the NAV-DVD eject yesterday with VCDS. All is working fine ( except the CD changer - which i'm trying to resolve in another thread ), but interested to get other members feedback & experience following upgrade, even if the advice is to "don't fix it, if it ain't broken".

1. What are the latest SW & HW revisions for RNS-E plus?
2. Is it worth upgrading them, what will I gain from an update?
3. What is the latest Map version?
4. Can I update the maps without updating the SW & HW?

The latest for your unit is 0650 which will load of the newer dvd's automatically unless updates have been disabled which very unlikely.

The latest maps are 2012 version & there hasnt been an update past 0650 for about 3 years, only update is the SDS firmware version I use for people that want sds as its basically a hack which works 100%, when you have other things done at same time.

Yes I would upgrade to 0650

There was a genuine 2012 pack went for £87 last night so keep an eye out for items ending soonest.

Thats worryingly cheap tbh Chris, there are some unscrupulous sellers on ebay branding as genuine, but clearly are not upon receipt, so be careful.

Copies with labels on are not good as the labels make the discs to thick so can catch on spinning & cause malfunction on rns units wth lockups.

I will keep an eye on ebay as advised and also as NHN notes, try to avoid the not so genuine articles!
