Question regarding oil balancer and cambelt

Hello ppl,

hope everyone is good. i have recently purchased an Audi A4 B7 Cabriolet 2.0 tdi 56 plate. its done 64000 miles and is due a service in 3300 miles. as far as i'm aware it hasn't had a cambelt changed. should i change the cambelt in this service and am i affected by the oil balancer problem. if so can i do anything about? i'm getting an oil and filter change onn the weekend.

Hi,

Due to mileage and age I would say a cambelt is definitely due, get the full kit inc. waterpump so you wont have to worry about this later on.

Done my car at 60k - better safe then sorry!

All you can do over the balancer is lower the subframe, drop the sump and inspect the parts replacing anything that is worn.

How much would it cost to lower the subframe And drop the sump? Audi have a fixed price for the cam belt would u guys recommend this?

The fixed pricing is competitive against local garages with the benefit of genuine parts and 2year warratee. I personally went for a specialist who offered the same warrantee as the parts were genuine and was able to offer a reduced price too

It's around 5 to 6 hours work to drop the sump and then put it back together again without any repairs in between. Labour prices vary from £20 and hour to £120+ per hour so its impossible to say how much.
