Can the lenses from the dipped beam be removed and cleaned??
my lights are very dim and I can only think the lenses are a bit dirty as I've changed the bulbs and no difference

If its the outside you can try a plastic polish which with effort can help. Also higher rated bulbs?

I think it's the dome inside the actual unit the the bulb sits behind, it seems very misty and think this is what is causing the dullness. I may remove headlight, take the bulb out and try to push a cloth into the dome and give it a wipe. I've tried the old Halfords specials and these were worse so got a new set from Audi and stil no difference.

I am wondering if its not advisable to try and clean the reflectors. Is it condensation or has something happened to the surface?I have never heard of this in 10yrs of owning Audis

The lenses look pretty good, no visable dullness nor condensation to them (you do mean the main glass housing don't you?)

The problem is, When in my Van (or looking at any other car on the road) you can visibly see the light being emitted from the lights hitting the floor and lighting up the area around the floor in front of the car, My car doesn't do this, I have checked the alignment dial inside the car and the beam isn't set too high, (It is on 0). I have pulled up to a wall and the beam doesn't seem to be set too high neither do I get flashed as if the lights were aimed to high and blinding oncoming traffic. When down country lanes the cars infront seem to have much further vision than my car.

Heres a guide to opening them up.

I couldn't see the dome getting dirty. I would recommend seeing if the bulb is seated correctly. Once replaced one of mine and the beam was awful afterwards so had another look and was in ar&se ways.

Lights definitely seated correctly. does everyone else's "Dome" that the Dipped Beam bulb sits behind seem a little "Misty"?

The A4 has projector lenses & I believe they are quite complex units. If you try to take them apart you might seriously regret it....

My wife's B5 has a similar problem with lights on 'dip' regardless of whatever bulbs are used. Mainbeam is excellent even with standard bulbs.
