just a quick one guys, on my way home from work went into limp mode, no lights, no smoke just no power even though i would hgave the pedal to the floor! my car has had an engine remap done so gives a little more when you push the pedal.

I got into researching, through this forum and others and came about the MAF failure possibility (well i hoped it was this because it sounded so easy, even i could do it!!); anyway done a diagnostic check first just in case and it came up with 2 errors:

    1. 17965-turbo super charger overboost condition: control limit exceeded - sporadic

    2. 17552-mass air flow (MAF) sensor-g70: open short to ground - sporadic.

now for some reason i ignored the first error becasue the guys i took it to said you probarbyl were heavy with your foot and it's come up; so i went and brought a MAF and becasue the garage said i paid £25 for the diag check for another £5 they will fit it in....so i took them up on their offer saying to myself i will save myself the trouble. now havng fitted this new MAF in i am still in limp mode and further research and investigation is now pointing me to the wastegate valve, hoses and the n75 pipes (i hope the trubo blades are not sticking).....which i feel i can change, i have to say here i don't think it is the turbo (?)....so with all the above said i would like some advise (please remember i am a complete noob, but very eager)

    1. i cannot seem to see the turbo and hoses from looking on the top of the engine so i am guessing i would have to jack it up and work from below the engine ?(after removing the plastic cover protecting the engine)

    2. is changing the hoses and valves simple as pulling them off and changing them?

    3. if the turbo is sticking can i take it off and clean it up? how do i do this?

uumm.........i think that is about it...........sorry guys don't mean to come across as a one post 'ask everything under the sun and run' type of guy but i have been losing sleep over this and well...cheers all.

can someone please give me some indication where the pipes and hoses are from the following pics....sorry ofr the quality.....i changed the MAF which is the yellow circle as you all probs know

I will be quick and straight to the point, this has been a common issue with remap ecu pd diesels and the turbo cant cope.I say this as when pd engine was first produced i had a spotty little git who had three turbos in 1 year and we new it was chipped as the fuel temp was altered and the fuel rate but vw would not investigate and the git wouldnt admit it and its the same fault code you have. The air mass fault requires a voltage supply test and depending on the engine code it should be either 12volt or 5 volt if the specified voltage is reached then the air mass has internal open circuit.17965/P1557/005463 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation
    [edit]Possible Symptoms
    Reduced power output
    Limp mode
    Possible Causes
    Boost Pressure too High
Hoses/Pipes incorrect connected, disconnected, blocked or leaking
    Charger Pressure Control defective
VNT (variable nozzle turbo): nozzles stuck
Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) defective
    Possible Solutions
    Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components
Check Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75)
Check / Clean / Replace Charge Pressure Control
Check / Clean mechanism for variable nozzles

Thankyou a8 for the reply, when i first read your post this sounded bad but then you have listed possible solutions, so it is curable...?? i think i am still under warranty for the engine remap..

    thankyou.
