Hoping someone may be able to help me on this one. We've recently bought a 2005 A3 Sportback with Bose/MFSW/Symphony but no bluetooth. What I'd really like to do if possible is have the ability to use the Audi RSAP adaptor with it, ideally plugged into the centre console. Is it possible to retrofit this setup (the car does already have an armrest but no cradle connection plate in it).

Another point I'm unsure on is whether the bluetooth capability resides within the RSAP adaptor or the phone prep side if anyone happens to know the answer to that.

There is no point installing the rSAP because the A3 uses the DIS to navigate through the names and unless you fit an RNSE thats all you're getting however it is a very good system.

I am doing a Audi OEM bluetooth retrofit guide this week so look out for that on Thursday/Friday if you wish to fit it yourself and its very easy to do

Yep I don't mind only seeing minimal info on the DIS; the thing I like most about RSAP is the boosted signal. I'm also wondering whether it makes a significant difference to the cost of the parts if the bluetooth is built into the RSAP adaptor and not bundled in/needed with the phone prep low (I can get a new RSAP adaptor for about £60-70).

No system in the A3 uses rSAP - its all HFP so you're still using the phones own signal and the car is basically a big bluetooth headset whereas in your A6 (if fitted) the bluetooth can support rSAP to use the cars own inbuilt aerial.

Bluetooth Remote SIM Access Profile adaptor

    Application

    Universal
    Information

This adaptor is only compatible with Generation 2 phone preparation
    Description

Remote SIM access profile Bluetooth adaptor cradle. An enhancement of the factory-fitted option "Mobile phone preparation - Low". It enables mobile phone handsets to connect to the phone preparation via Bluetooth Remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP). When handsets are connected, the cradle enables the use of the external GSM car antenna and deactivates the handset antenna in order to minimise GSM radiation in the car and handset battery consumption. The handset is put into standby mode so battery power drain is minimal. Once connected, the cradle connects to the handset automatically and details of up to four handsets can be saved. Only handsets with Bluetooth rSAP functionality are compatible with this adaptor
    Part number

    8P0051440A

Retro fit the cradle base then the gsm aerial and coax plus the booster for the rsap adapter to function

I have retro fitted this system in the past
