Really, you need a fault code read to tell you which airbag is causing the problem, and to reset the light.

Without a code read, it's just a guess, but the usual suspect for airbag lights is the connectors under the driver and passenger seats.

I remember having exactly the same problem a few years back after an MOT. The light came on because the rear centre seat belt was left connected and seem to remember reading about a fault with the switch in the latch.

Anyway, once disconnected and cleared it never came back, I've never used the centre belt...

part of the test now is to make sure the drivers seat latches in 3 different positions, so the tester has possibly moved the seat further than usual and disturbed the connector.

You will need someone with VCDS to reset the light.

I'm going to have to try that now then.

How does this work then? why doesn't it light up if there's rear seat passengers? Are there weight sensors in the seats?
