Thank you and I do appreciate the help. My manager tells me they fixed the problem, but has not told me how as yet. Will reply on the thread when I get details.

After realigning the head lights within the body... I proceeded to have the car booked in to local Audi dealer for the HID bulbs alignment checked & adjusted within the head light...
And WOW what a difference it made... and double WOW WOW when no charge

Service advisor hand be keys, said "Thank you sir, may you enjoy the rest of your day"....

Puzzled for a moment thinking he had forgotten to hand me an invoice... I said "Thank you, have not got an invoice for me?"....

He replied "It's under goodwill sir"...
This is twice the local main dealer has surprised me... and in good way

Whats changed Gup? Are they brighter?

I occasionally get cars flashing their full beam at me thinking that I've got full beam on....just standard Xenon lights though.

When I first got my car the lights were good regarding brightness, focus and where they hit/lit road up...

When I recently had work done to car which entailed certain front end parts to be removed so engine and gearbox would come out... they replaced headlights not as they where before...
They where so misaligned within the headlight cavity that where they were flush with the wings and had even gaps around where they met bumper and bonnet, etc they did not...

I will try and find and post the photos of these gaps, etc

So when I drove at night the light was unfocussed where they hit/lit road up and seemed to make them seem less bright/intense...

As you can understand a change in mounting position of headlights would mean that the previous adjustment for bulbs would then be out when used... if that make sense...

Hence the bulbs needed to be realigned... which resulted in light from headlights to be better focussed on road resulting in better brightness IMO

Why I post earlier was to acknowledge six_or_out's post and hope he would not expand on his post... again my view is that certain content is for PM only...

There are certain members on this forum who I have spoken to 1 to 1 on phone... 1 has met me... another I will meet soon...

That is my choice... and would think they would not reveal things about me and I would not about them...

My profile does not have my location... what I do for a living... many others don't as well... they will have their reason's I mine...

I respect other's anonymity... you/others can call/think me paranoid... but that's just me...

Even if attachments can only be viewed by a registered member there are no real checks to gain membership...

Posts are visible even without membership in most sections of forum...

If you leave enough clues the puzzle can be put together with the pieces

Somebody reading this may say why join forum well I had issues with my car which mostly where solved at home by me with knowledge from posts/info on web...

So joined to sorta give back... so initially small posts... then the guides for retro fit... and later more activity than I ever thought..

You sorta then let guards down when you see the posters helping one another and end up revealing more about yourself, etc

Maybe forum thing is not for me... as I am a private person... but I've liked it so much that I've gone further with it than I thought...

I like the peeps I met/meet in this web space and compared to other forums VWAF has such good layout/content/activity going on

I remember that when my car was delivered, the headlight adjustment was appalling. Set far too high and I was flashed all the way home. After a couple of visits to the dealer I lost patience and learned how to adjust them myself.

In the engine bay, inboard of each light cluster are two plastic recessed hex head bolts. The lower bolt adjusts the up/down. Clockwise lowers and anticlock raises the beam. Over time, 5 years ago I found a level that gave a long enough throw but did not light up the retinas of other drivers. The car has since been through 3 MOTs without an advisory and I don't get flashed. I'm very conscious that the lights are bright so am very keen to avoid dazzling.

Not scientific but works for me.

I seem to have opened a bucket of worms here. I have driven several Audi in the evenings, different cars and all customers cars not mine and compared with Benz/BMW/Porsche the lighting is terrible. Has any other Audi owners compared their lighting to different cars?

I have direct experience of a 5 series and A6 both with factory HIDs and couldn't really split them. The only difference I perceived was that the BM's lights bounced up and down more (with the auto levelling not coping) but that was probably due to the crappy combination of M Sport suspension and runflats rather than the lights.

I'm well happy with those on the A6 and wouldn't go back to a car with halogens now.
