    Hi thier!

ive just brought a 2003 VW bora 130ST and have found that the radio/cdplayer wont switch on or off with the ignition. i can force the unit on by pushing the power button but this is annoying and somtimes hard to remember! its a standard gamma unit and ive checked the wiring and its all standard (not bodged) im wondering is it a possible relay issue or maybe a fuse?

also if it is one of the formentioned then how do i have a constant power? logic would say if the relya/fuse blew or broke then power wouldnt be getting their at all? or is the power coming from the memory/time cable if anyone is semi familiar with the wiring of the gamma radios? (have googled this so much im becoming an expert but still cant fix the issue!)

please please please help. and if ive forget anything please just ask!

    many thanks

    Arron

It is off for a standard head unit to do this as the wiring should all be fine.

This is however a cable issue, you get the issue a lot on after market head units.
There are 2 positive power cables that go to the head unit, one is constant and one is switched (when you turn the ignition on). It seems like the cables are crossed and the constant power from the car is connected to the switched power on the head unit.

They are normally a red and yellow cables... See if you can switch them over, it might be that someone has upgraded the head unit in the past and left the connection crossed on an after market ISO harness.

Hope this helps rather then confuses... If you got any pics of the cabling I might be able to help more.
