I have some shiny new DRLs to fit, and wondered if someone could point me towards the best (read easiest!) switched 12v power location to tap?

I want them on whenever the ignition is on, but don't want to tap into something which will upset the computer or diagnostics.

    It's a 2007 A6 Avant TDI TDV 2.0l

    Many thanks.

I have had DRLs fitted to mine but not to switch on when the engine is switched on. They are connected to the sidelights. Would have looked crap if the sidelights were yellow and DRLs white so i have changed the sidelights to LED too and there is no error on the DIS.

Did you replace the side light bulbs to leds as a straight swap or is there a mod involved.

I have adaptive xenons on a 2008, the yellow side lights looks manky so wouldnt mind changing them to a white light

to save any hassle and upsetting any canbus signals, you can use a voltage sensing relay straight off the battery that will put them on as soon as the engine starts and the volts rise. i have fitted some ring ones like this that came as a kit with everything included. talk about easy, no finding wires etc, and you can leave the ignition on without the lights.

I bought a pair of canbus LEDs and they were straight swap to the sidelight bulbs, no bulb out errors or anything and they look pretty sweet too.

Got em from Amazon...here s the link

Here's how mine look. Not the best pic as its from my phone but you get the idea at least. The sidelights are white LEDs.

It wasn't dark enough for the lights to properly shine but should give you an idea. Will post the pics during a bit dark later.

Looks great Raj. It would be great to see some darker shots though to really see them like you say.

I just put some xenon bulbs in instead of the normal sidelights & they look pretty nice, gives it a nice crisp white light & I haven't had anyone flashing me in the 2 or 3 months since. Just £20 for the pair too.
