Wow, what an experience!!

Car in today for a visual health check and also to replace the fuel filter and pollen / cabin filter.

Before this commenced I had decided to go down the "interactive" route..............I was in an office and sitting before a monitor, with a microphone at the ready. Prior to this I had been introduced to Peter, the tech who was to do the work on the car. He was all kitted out in electronic gear c/w a headset / mic combo etc and explained the procedure to me.

Shortly after, the screen kicked into life and there was my car. He talked me through as he went though the items under the bonnet naming them as he did so, checked all the relevant levels ( coolant, power steering, oil, brake fluid etc, hoses and pipes all fine, belts tensioned etc.
The lights etc had all previously been checked.
Moving around the car, the tyres were checked for wear, brake pads and discs looked at and confirmed A ok, springs and all suspension components checked along with the CV joints etc etc, this done on all four corners.
Then a quick look around underneath the car to ensure all was well.

All during this there was a running commentary and I was invited to join in and ask any questions or mention any concerns I had.

During this process an inner wheel liner on the passenger side was discovered to be loose as well as a few clips for the undertray missing, these were replaced f.o.c and possibly could have been a contributory factor in the "whooshing noise" I have earlier described when on full lock at lower speeds.

Furthermore, although the fronts discs n pads were in great shape there was a slight issue on the inside edge of the disc where there was some wear due to rust build up that again may be a contributing factor in the aforementioned noise.............something to look out for.

They also hooked the car up to diagnostics for my "slight hesitancy issue at 1800 rpm" but no faults were found.

They did mention about a possible tandem pump issue, but mine had already been replaced some time ago...........possible known issue?

At this point this concluded the interactive part, then the tech did the work as required on the vehicle and commented on how she was in good condtion for age and mileage and was looked after.

I requested that they DO NOT vacuum or wash the car as I always do and that as they say was that.

Total bill £87.46

For the work done, the visual health check and interactive part and general peace of mind, it was a small price to pay.

One happy customer

Well done Audi
