Cheers Chris, was a bit of an effort sourcing the alloys/tyres/springs but worth the effort.

Had a remap from Remap, Chip Tuning and Tuning Box for Power and Economyand the D mode really flys now.

    Obviously very happy.

    Lights next!

Just finished sorting issues from my recent spend on her and hoping she's settled now

My next step is remap, may I ask what difference it make to your insurance

Looks good mate, did you keep the old wheels for winter tyres?

I take it you can choose to lower it in 10 mil increments?

The Eibachs take off 30mm and that's enough for me and yes the old alloys will get some winter rubber on them maybe in a couple of months time before the winter rush!...living out Gatwick way we have had snow 3 years running now and living on a farm at the top of a hill I need something better than the useless RWD Mercedes 320cdi I have just got rid of! (though it was a great car in all other respects!)

I need to contact my insurance company tomorrow and let them know of my alterations.

Looks like the drop is a good amount, the wheels run pretty well bang on parallel with the wheel arches. I'm surprised that going from an SE suspension to Eibach with a 30 mm drop and putting 19" whhels on when you had 17" on before, that you've not noticed a big difference in ride hardness/harshness, good to know. Or are you determined not to notice any negatives after spending all that money .

I hope you don't find it cheeky, but I'd also be interested in finding out what the difference is to your insurance premium (percentage-wise if you didn't want to talk figures). Having said that, I wouldn't get a remap, so that would cloud the figures I suppose.

I just showed the wife your before & after pics. Normally she doesn't notice/care about stuff on cars, but even she said it looked a lot better (my car has SE suspension & the 17" alloys, basically your before pic but in black). Stage 1 in persuading her to let me do the same is complete, e.t.a on the final stage is about a year or two from now .

Looking very nice, I am after a set of alloys as I have the same original ones as you. However how do you find the ride now?

Did you fit the springs before or after the alloys? I am after a set of 18s for mine, however I dont want to ruin the ride as we have a newborn baby in a matter of weeks.

Honestly the ride in my opinion does not suffer badly. This though may be tempered by the fact reviewers of my new Avon tyres have commented that they are both quiet and offer a less harsh ride than other 255/35/19's they have tried.

I have come from a Mercedes E320cdi Avantguard which had a sporty suspension setup as opposed to the Elegance in that range, that was on 245/45/17 and the ride is firmer than that but not in an unpleasant way.

Nobody is going to complain unless they are used to a very cushy ride.

I fitted the springs after the alloys, drove around for a few days on the standard suspension and 19 wheels no problem, just didn't like the gap. Pure aesthetics.

Understood. Thanks for the reviews. I upgraded from an 8L A3 and having been offered my current A6 from a friend at a really low price the temptation was too strong.
It is a shame he sold of similar alloys that you have at 19", but he did not alter the suspension and he found the ride a little harsh.

I do wonder if I can get away with 18's and not change the suspension on my A6. My daughter will of course be the priority so I shouldnt really get new alloys, but the current ones are so boring

Once again aesthetics come into play.
